>The two teenage suspects who were arrested for planning an attack against their school appeared in court today. Guess what they pleaded. Thats right. Not guilty. One of the kids confessed and they found bomb-making materials in one of the kids house and they pleaded not guilty. I get the feeling hilarity is going to ensue from the defense attorney.
>
>Their next court appearance will be in the beginning of January to see whether or not they should be tried as adults. I think you already know my opinion the matter. Considering they were planning to commit mass murder than kill themselves I think its obvious that they should be tried as adults. Theyre charged with conspiracy to commit murder not conspiracy to egg someones house. You plan to do a big boy crime you should plan to do big boy time.
>
>And for those of you who say these kids need help and not prison, would you still be saying that if it was your daughter they planned to dismember?

>"Hollys Fight For Justice"
>One of the bloggers from one of our newest additions to the true crime blogroll asked me if I would do a write up of her blog. I agreed but I told her Im not really good at this kind of thing but Ill give it a shot anyway. Her blog is Hollys Fight For Justice which is a blog basically about crime victim advocacy. But thats not really doing the blog any justice. To get a true feeling for the blog please go check it out. Most of Hollys experience comes from the fact than she was a rape victim herself and relentlessly pursued her attacker through legal channels until he was finally brought to justice. You can read about that story here. Holly is a definitely a welcome addition to the True Crime Blogroll and I look forward to more posts from her in the future.

>"Plot thwarted at Quartz Hill High in California"
>Arrests cited in Columbine-style attack plot:
>A Major Columbine-like plot has been thwarted in California. Two teens ages 15 and 17 were arrested on Thursday for planning an attack on Quartz Hill High School in California. The plot was scheduled for Valentines Day 2006 because, according to the article, a song by Marilyn Manson. The kids were allegedly teased for their goth appearance. As we know the media has yet to get the description of goth right but back to the matter at hand. Both teens had attended Quartz Rock High but were transferred to other schools for discipline problems. One of those problems may heave been this
>
>The boys, ages 15 and 17, had been on probation in connection with a 2003 assault in which a 14-year-old boy was sodomized with a metal rod.
>
>So you know were dealing with well adjusted individuals here.
>
>Heres how the plot was uncovered
>
>The purported plot came to light Wednesday when a girl contacted a Quartz Hill High vice principal and reported that the teens were planning a Columbine-type attack on the school.
>
>Deputies said the girl reported being told by friends that the 15-year-old did not like her and was planning to kidnap and torture her and cut off her arms and legs.
>
>Heres what was found at each of their homes
>
>A search of the 17-year-olds house in Lancaster turned up ammunition, a knife and puzzles about murder and suicide, among other items, deputies said.
>
>Deputies recovered at the 15-year-olds Quartz Hill residence a gas mask, carbon dioxide canisters, and pictures of Columbine shooters Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, Oklahoma City bombers Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols, Charles Manson, and Lee Harvey Oswald.
>
>Deputies also found knives, anti-government and hate literature and printed instructions downloaded from the Internet on how to make bombs.
>
>And before anyone starts claiming they were framed and are just misunderstood boys they basically confessed to the plot
>
>The 15-year-old told detectives that the pair had been experimenting with _and had exploded - carbon-dioxide canister bombs, Molotov cocktails and light-bulb bombs.
>
>The boy showed investigators an injury, the result of a propane-type pipe bomb prematurely detonating and sending a screw through a finger.
>
>The boy said he was going to get guns through an unidentified friend from a pawn shop, detectives said.
>
>All because they were teased. Boo hoo
>
>The boys, who dressed in the Goth style, characterized by black clothing, black makeup and nail polish and piercings, said they felt ostracized at Quartz Hill High, deputies said.
>
>They were called names, Detective Steve Owen said. They didnt like it and wanted to retaliate against them by killing them.
>
>You know I wish that people, especially high school kids, were tolerant of people that are different than themselves but we cant just wave a magic wand and make it change over night. And intolerance is not against the law. Plotting mass murder and torture is.
>
>And again the age old question needs to be asked. Where were the parents?
>
>Now some odds and ends..
>
>According to this article from the LA Times the 15-year-old had the word hate carved into his arm.
>
>Im sure this is just a coincidence but Quartz Hill High Schools sports teams are known as The Rebels. The same as Columbine High School.
>
>Here are the lyrics to Marilyn Mansons Valentines Day. Of course Im not blaming Marilyn Manson except for being a no talent hack thats stealing Alice Coopers and Ozzys old gimmicks.
>
>More on this as soon as more details become available.

>"Eric Schorling sentenced"
>Judge hands Romeo teen who stabbed ex-girlfriend stiff sentence:
>Eric Schorling, the teen who was convicted of stabbing Nicole Lambert in the back at Romeo High in Michigan, was sentenced yesterday to 10-15 years in adult prison
>
>In one respect you are fortunate, Maceroni said. Either one centimeter up or down or to either side, and Nicole wouldnt be here today and you, young man, would have spent the rest of your life in the Michigan Department of Corrections. Thats how lucky you are.
>
>You have to love a judge who tells it like it is.
>
>Of course we had some humorous shenanigans from the defense attorney during the trial
>
>During the trial, Garton tried to introduce evidence about the differences between the brains of adolescents and adults. He also sought to include testimony that the bullying Schorling received after he broke up with Lambert helped lead to the attack.
>
>This didnt happen in a vacuum, Garton said of the stabbing. If they had just separated and gone their own ways, and there wasnt this name-calling, this never would have happened.
>
>You know what the name calling was? Nazi. Eric Schorling had a swastika tattoo. Its hard to muster up any sympathy a nazi psychopath.
>
>At least the prosecuting attorney has some sense
>
>Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith disagreed.
>
>Sorry if I appear harsh, Smith said. But this girl almost died. Kids are teased every day, but they dont go out and try to kill someone.
>
>Now where have I heard that before?
>
>However the 10-15 years is not the only sentence Schorling will receive
>
>Schorling still faces an additional charge relating to his escape from Macomb Countys Juvenile Justice Center. Schorling, now 17, had already pleaded guilty and was slated to be sentenced to less than seven years in prison, but that plea was withdrawn after the escape.
>
>You should have taken the plea Einstein but Im so glad you didnt.
>
>As always it was your pleasure.

>"When Dio Meets Mindcrime"
>Ronnie James Dio is Dr. X!:
>I honestly cant believe this. The metal gods are surely smiling on me today. The greatest songwriter and frontman of all time, Ronnie James Dio, will be appearing vocally on the sequel to the greatest album of all time, Queensryches Operation: Mindcrime, as the villain Dr. X. The announcement itself from Queensryche.com
>
>
>History is about ready to repeat itself, and in a big way. Today queensryche.com is happy to announce who the mysterious Dr. X is! Its none other than legendary rock/metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio! These above photos, taken just yesterday, came at the conclusion of Ronnies vocals and thus puts the wraps on the recording of Mindcrime II.
>
>But will the sequel live up to the original? That remains to be seen. My fear is that this will be a thinly veiled political attack. While the original did have liberal leanings it focused more on the story than the politics. If Mindcrime II focuses more on the politics then I dont think even the metal god himself could help this album.

>"Maryland Plot and the ACLU"
>Boy, 13, is arrested amid fears:
>This is a follow up to yesterdays story about the 13-year-old Annapolis boy who was arrested for trying to recruit people for a Columbine style attack against St. Martins Lutheran School.
>
>No specific motive has yet been released except
>
>But according to a police news release, the boy was attempting to get other pupils to join him in re-creating Columbine, and he repeatedly made statements indicating that he had the desire to harm people at the school and get back at them for perceived wrongs against him.
>
>Im curious to know what those perceived wrongs against him are.
>
>Anyway, my main bone of contention with this article is the fact that they interviewed someone from the ACLU (AssCLowns Unlimted)
>
>David Rocah, staff attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland, had a mixed reaction.
>
>It is right for the principal to be concerned, call the police and for the police to investigate, Rocah said. This is not the same thing as saying that a crime has been committed and the police can arrest someone in the middle of the night.
>
>Rocah said Marylands courts have found that the statute pertaining to disrupting school activities is only violated when there is a significant violation or interference with the administration or classes at the school and nothing that the police have said indicated that has occurred here.
>
>He added: Having violent thoughts is not a crime, and we dont have thought police in the U.S.
>
>Sometimes I cant believe some of the stuff that the ACLU spouts. Just because his actions were not violent yet doesnt necessarily make them legal. At what point would he have had to be along in his plan before the ACLU would say that the actions taken by are ok? When theyre putting sheets over top bloody bodies of the victims? Then again what do you expect from an organization that defends traitors, cop killers, and pedophiles?

>"xxChemicalzxx xxArrestedxx"
>Police arrest 12-year-old for Internet threats to blow up her middle school:
>
>GIRL, 12, CHARGED AS SENDER OF THREAT: Terrorism law used; Chippewa Valley kids just glad its over:
>The anonymous internet poster known only as xxChemicalzxx, who threatened to blow up Wyandot Middle School in Macomb County Michigan, has been arrested. It turns out shes only a 12-year-old girl
>
>A 12-year-old girl has been arrested and charged with terrorism after she was accused of making threats over the Internet to blow up her school with a bomb, according to prosecutors and police. The Macomb County Prosecutors Office on Thursday authorized a warrant charging the girl with using a computer to commit a threat of terrorism. The charge is a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison upon conviction.
>
>Now before some of you get your panties in a bunch because of the possible 20-year sentence just relax. Andrew Osantowski was only sentenced to 4 1/2 years and he actually had weapons.
>
>We also now know some of the content of the threatening message
>
>On Dec. 10 some of the students on their home computers received the message, which stated, (T)his coming up Monday-Friday I am going to bomb Wyandot Middle School. The author also warned the students to stay away from school all week because, I do care for you.
>
>Shes also looking at being expelled
>
>Chippewa Valley Superintendent Mark Deldin said he would ask district officials to expel the girl from school.
>
>My recommendation will be to permanently expel any student that makes threats of terrorism or violence to harm others. First and foremost, students have to feel safe in their school.
>
>Deldin said the girl turned herself in Thursday morning. This was just a very stupid act, he said.
>
>So remember kids, these arent just pranks anymore. In most case these are felonies. Think about it, is it really worth getting expelled, arrested, and having that record follow you around for the rest of your life? No, its not.

>Its a short article so Im just going to repost it
>
>ANNAPOLIS - A 13-year-old boy was arrested this morning after police said he tried to recruit other students into re-creating the Columbine massacre at St. Martins Lutheran School.
>
>School administrators called city police after the boy mentioned doing a Columbine at the school.
>
>County police served a search warrant this morning at the boys home, which is located just outside the city boundaries, and then turned the search over to city police. A variety of journals containing violent images were found at the home, including cap guns and paintball guns, police said.
>
>The boy was arrested and charged with disrupting school activities. He was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center for emergency psychiatric evaluation.

>"Henderson pleads not guilty"
>Man pleads not guilty to 4 deaths:
>Say what now? Yesterday a grand jury handed down a four-count indictment on Richard Henderson Jr. of first-degree murder. Henderson previously confessed to the crimes. Then Assistant Public Defender Carolyn DaSilva entered a plea of not guilty. Again I say huh? I realize that they are probably going to try an insanity defense with Henderson but I think its an extreme longshot. If he had pleaded guilty it probably would have spared him the death penalty. Now its possible that prosecutors will seek the death penalty. But hey, its his funeral.

>"Marshfield trials to start soon"
>Nee, Kerns heading to trial:
>This is the first news weve hard out of Marshfield in a while. It basically just states that both Joe Nee and Toby Kerns are due back in court shortly for the charges filed against both of them in planning a Columbine like attack against their school. But again what kills me is what defense attorneys have to say. In this case Joe Nees defense attorney Thomas Drechsler
>
>Drechsler pointed out that while Toby Kerns has a criminal history, having been arrested on breaking and entering charges, and has been treated in a psychiatric facility, Nee has never been in trouble with a law or treated for mental illness.
>
>Like Ive said before thats great that Joe Nee doesnt have a criminal record. His dad is a Boston cop. As much respect as I have for police I know that there is special treatment for family members of cops. Its not that much of a stretch to think that Joe Nee has gotten out of trouble by saying his dad was a Boston cop.
>
>The article refreshes our memory again on the whole situation
>
>Toby Kerns was arrested on Sept. 17, 2004 after Nee and two other teens, Joseph Sullivan and Daniel Farley, went to the police and said Kerns had hand drawn maps of the school, had looked up how to make bombs on the Internet and was trying to order guns. Nee told police that most of the information was kept in a black binder in a spare room at the Kerns home.
>
>Police found the binder and evidence that Kerns computer had been used to look at Web sites like the Anarchists Cookbook, which explains how to make explosives.. Nee was arrested Oct. 18, 2004 after other students came forward with information implicating him in the plan.
>
>Nee lived in the Kerns home for several weeks late last spring, and Tobys father, Ben Kerns said he noticed the older boy seemed fascinated with Nazism and appeared to be a bad influence on his son. Ben Kerns said Nee stayed in the spare bedroom where the black binder was found.
>
>Kerns claims Nee, not his son, created the maps of the school and looked at bomb making Web sites while he was staying in their home. But Nees attorney argued that the plan was Tobys and his client went to police to prevent him from carrying it out.
>
>What the article leaves out is that Joe Nee wore a t-shirt to school that had pictures of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold that said Remember the Heroes. Joe Nee went to school for Halloween one year dressed as Eric Harris. Joe Nee was witnessed bring a gun to school even though its in doubt whether or not the gun was real. The reason Joe Nee was staying at the Kernses was because he assaulted his father and his father threw him out. Toby Kerns did nothing like that. Like Ive said before it sounds like to me that Joe Nee went to police before Toby Kerns could. It also sounds like to me that Joe Nee was one the planning this attack and Toby decided to bail on the plan after he got help.
>
>Not only that but I received an e-mail today from someone in the Marshfield area that said theres a rumor going around that a friend of Joe Nees was arrested for having a hit list and hand drawn maps of Marshfield High.
>
>As far as Im concerned Toby Kerns only crime was trusting Joe Nee and talking his dad in to letting Joe Nee stay at their house. I only hope a jury can see that as well.

>"Tookie and Mumia"
>Tookie and Mumia:
>Who would have thought? An actual informative and entertaining piece from the Huffington Post. Then again it is from Michael Smerconish whose work Ive previously enjoyed in the Philadelphia Daily News.
>
>Anyway its a great piece about the similarities between the case of Tookie Williams and the never-ending saga of convicted cop killing scumbag Mumia Abu Jamal. And it especially looks at how it affects Maureen Faulkner, the widow of Officer Daniel Faulkner who was killed by Mumia Abu Jamal.
>
>These weeks have been very emotional for me because people have been bringing up Dannys case out hear in California, she told me. Last week I was driving home from work and a talk radio station was discussing Williams and Abu-Jamal, and there was Mike Farrell, saying many of the same things he has said in Dannys case. I just pulled over and started crying. Its been 24-years, and I am a strong woman, but it was emotional to hear it once again.
>
>I feel as though justice was done to this man who has never actually said he murdered these individuals, he denied it, he never apologized and its a sad thing for the families, but at least they have peace, she said.
>
>She was referring to the sort of peace she still seeks.
>
>Now that the attention is off of Tookie maybe the Pennsylvania courts will get around to reinstating Mumias death sentence and hopefully give Maureen Faulkner the peace she deserves.

>
>Now on to House. Great episode. I liked the concept of a Munchausens patient that actually had something wrong with them. Im not a fan of Cynthia Nixon but I thought she did an incredible job last night. I thought I would hate that Foreman was in charge but it seemed to make House extra surly if that was possible. My only bone to pick was of course the way the Garden State was portrayed. Now Ive been out of Jersey for 8 years now and I lived in South Jersey but I dont remember New Jersey having OTB. I thought the only place you could bet on horse races was at the track where you could bet on races from other parks. Can I get a North Jerseyan to help me out with that one?
