    >If you go to the Macromedia site today you'll see that the re-branding effort is underway to bring it under the new Adobe uber-brand as part of their global domination of the design tool market. The day is coming soon when ANIMAX will take over the animation universe and then all shall revel in the glory that is collectively ours!

Merry Christmas!

    >ANIMAX was just asked by the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation to create a DVD version of the award-winning website Coping with Chemo that we created for them last year.

    >We're also creating a series of websites to help kids understand a range of health related issues including sickle cell anemia, cystic fibrosis, kidney failure, what an IV is for, and a few other topics. We've actually been doing a lot of health industry work where we use animation to help communicate difficult subject matter in a more palatable way for children and adults.

    >ANIMAX created a game called Cursor Grabber for Fox Studios' Grab.com. See if you can keep your cursor from getting eaten, burnt, sucked into a vacuum, exploded, stolen or mangled by a little red devil. He's fast, so watch out.

    >Thank God for KCRW!
    >
    >Okay, maybe that's a bit much, but we have to thank KCRW for one of our favorite clients, SL-Tech. SL-Tech offers a range of solutions for school districts and cafeteria systems as well as for families with kids in school.
    >After hearing a profile about them on NPR's All Things Considered, we picked up the phone and cold called them. That one call spiraled into us helping SL-Tech reconnect with their business and consumer client base in several new ways, from a wholesale identity campaign to marketing collateral production to character animation to a pending redesign of their website (due in January).

    >We must give props to Dale Carnegie for their cold calling class - cold calling is evil. It's ugly and dehumanizing and usually a waste of time. Until you happen upon a gem.
    >
    >Thanks Dale. You're swell.

    >Well, actually Chicken Little hatched from the weekend as the number one movie at the box office. And of course, it's all because of ANIMAX and our contribution to the writing of the film. :)

    >
    >Starting today, you can get your Disney Princess: A Christmas Of Enchantment DVD. ANIMAX Entertainment animated all the classic Disney Princesses including Ariel, Cinderella, Belle, Aurora, Jasmine, and Snow White as they perform an all-new song that celebrates the beauty of the season. We produced the animation of the classic characters using Macromedia's Flash and traditional techniques. Find all things Princess at Disney's site.

    >AFI, Zodiac and Virtual Pets
    >
    >Our third project with the AFI Digital Content Lab drew to a close this past week. This time around we helped concept and create a virtual pet / avatar of sorts for interactive television. While there have been a number of virtual pets out there, there hasn't been much movement on the iTV front with one. With Zodiac Gaming as the project team client, we came up with the start of a great concept that looks to be developed further into an actual prototype. Stay tuned.

    >The Eyes Have It
    >
    >Animax just finished animating a video and creating an activity book for the American Optometric Association and Visual Eyes. The production was a hybrid animation and live-action video with kids interacting with animated cartoon characters. Wise Eyes and Spex help the kids better understand their eyes and how to properly care for them. The live-action sequences were shot on green screen. We produced the character animation in Flash which was integrated with 3D sequences highlighting the different components of the eye and then the whole production was composited together to make the 20 minute video. Keep your eyes open for it soon.

    >We had a great time last night at Animax's 4th Anniversary at The Museum of Jurassic Technology, seeing and mingling with all the folks that make us who we are. Got to see past, current and (hopefully) future clients, partners, staff and more. It was the first time we've run an event like that and we're ecstatic it came off as well as it did. Photographs will follow. We're still looking for winners of the raffle: 32, 91, 88, 16, 72, 4....
