('The Demon' in my subjectline was Annie Horniman's much later nickname for WBY, from the Order of the Golden Dawn.)Hopefully someone will be able to shed some light on these: 1) I don't know how to explain this one except to say the GeForce seems to bog it self down. Say I have two floors each a different zone. I explore one floor/zone and take an elevator down to the next one. At some parts the framerate drops and when I go back to the first floor (where the framerate was fine before) the framerate now stays bad. I could reverse this, explore the second floor then the first and the same thing would happen. I do this with timedemo 1 on. When the framerate drops if I hit ESC and pull up the menu for a bit I can _visually_ see the abg. framerate numbers jump about 10 to 15 frames _everytime_. I get rid of the menu and all is fine. So I now the card can do it but its like I'm flushing the card manually (if there is such a thing). Any suggestions? 2) This is the most annoying. There can be terrible jumping. Not bad framerate but literally juping like something it tryong to load for the first time. I'm sure that has something to do with it but it never stops. One of the things I tried for D3D was enabling Precache from the Unreal Advanced Prferences dialog. Doing this in game it makes a noticable difference. However, exiting the game with this on and then reloading causes the game to crash to the desktop when I attempt to load a map (any map). Any ideas? Things I've tried: 1) Physically moved my vid card and other cards around in my computer. 2) Tried nvidia drivers from the 6.x series to the 12.x series. The latter seem to be better but not by much. 3) Tried DirectX 7, 7a, 8, 8a 4) Went through various BIOS tweaks and recommended from the tweak guide at Planet Deus Ex. These didn't cause any problems. In fact my computer in general seems a bit snappier but Deus Ex doesn't. 5) Changed all of the in game graphics options: Detailed Textures, resolution, world textures etc. Changing resolutions doesn't seem to do much btw.
