KellyOsbourne.com American tells of her friendship with Kelly By Sandra Laville (Filed: 26/01/2004) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=3D/news/2004/01/26/nblair326.xml&sSheet=3D/news/2004/01/26/ixnewstop.html The American woman who introduced Dr David Kelly to the Bahai faith has spoken of her close relationship with the weapons inspector. Much mystery and speculation has surrounded Mai Pederson, a linguist for the US military, who met Dr Kelly when she worked as a translator during the Unscom mission in Iraq in 1998. During the Hutton Inquiry she released a statement to quash speculation that the pair were romantically linked. Miss Pederson, who was described by Dr Kelly's widow Janice as a "friend of the family", refused to give evidence to the inquiry but she was interviewed over two days by Thames Valley Police. The contents of her interviews will be studied by the Oxfordshire coroner, Nicholas Gardiner, along with other police statements and evidence, before he makes a decision on whether to hold a full inquest into Dr Kelly's death following the Hutton report this week. In an interview with a Sunday newspaper, Miss Pederson said the idea that Dr Kelly committed suicide made no sense to her. She said he had telephoned her at the time his name was being released publicly. "He joked about how he was having to 'evacuate' his house because of harassment by the press. He didn't sound depressed. He sounded totally normal. . . "He was still talking about the future. I was going to visit him and Jan that August. . ." She claimed that she told the police Dr Kelly had discussed the dangers of his job in Iraq with her. "His job was dangerous. He knew it could cost him his life. He got death threats. We talked often about the threats." She said the two became close, "like brother and sister", and denied they were involved beyond that. She described him as "a very kind man, a very gentle man, a true humanitarian". When Dr Kelly converted to the Bahai faith in 1999 he did not discuss it with his wife, but according to Miss Pederson he shared much with her. The Assistant Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police, Michael Page, told the Hutton Inquiry that officers had investigated all Dr Kelly's contacts in the last days of his life, including Miss Pederson. He said although she would not give officers a statement, a record was made of her interview but it added nothing that was of relevance to his inquiry into Dr Kelly's death. Police also spoke to another woman who was close to Dr Kelly through his work. Gabriella Kraz Wadsak, an officer in the German army, had worked with him for a number of years in Iraq, and had also been in contact with him in the days before his death. Dr Kelly expressed to her concerns about the efficacy of the weapons inspection programme in Iraq. EVIDENCE grows... Nigel ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- I have full access to another users shared folder but I can't forward items stored in it until I move them to another folder. Can anyone tell me why? TIA... Nigel Sorry to hijack this thread but your answer brought to me a question I had regarding cleaning maiboxes of former employees. From your answer, will the following work: Someone leave and we are told that person X will be responsible for cleaning up the mailbox before the account is deleted. We give person X full proxy acess to the former employee mailbox. He then share the former employee mailbox with him and proceed at moving email from the former employee mailbox to his own mailbox. When we delete the former employee mailbox later on, he'll keep the copy of the messages he copied into his own mailbox, right? They won't get deleted, right? Is there a better way (requiring no IT support) of doing this? Thanks. That will work. A forward is different from moving the message. A forward just sticks a pointer to the already existing message. -- Michael J. Getting down on the floor has produced the best results, but I have a long-standing compression injury to one knee, so working for extended periods of time on it has negative consequenses. I've used my dining room table, but sometimes I've gotten wrinkles in the backing fabric. I wondered if a hand-quilting frame (like a Q-Snap) would be useful. I thought I could put the three layers upon the frame, snap one end into place, pull taut, snap the other end into place, do the same for the other two sides, baste, and then move to the next section. I am not a handquilter, so I have never used a hand-quilting frame before. Is what I'm thinking of possible, or do I not understand the structure of the frame, and am, therefore, barking up the wrong tree? Sheila The PVC pipe ones would work great if you don't do bedsize quilts. before I used the floor i had long strips of lumber that i had staple gunned strips of duck cloth to. I set them up on dining room chairs and attached the corners with c-clamps I penned my layers onto the duckcloth strips and stretched it until it was just right and then c-clamped it to hold it. Also works as a great stationary quilting frame where you quilt and roll as you go. My DM & DGM used this type of frame exclusively and it was attached permanantly to hooks in the ceiling where it was rolled up out of the way when not in use. I don't ever remember a time that there wasn't a quilt in that frame. -- http://community.webshots.com/user/snigdibbly SNIGDIBBLY ~e~ / http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/snigdibbly. http://www.ebaystores.com/snigdibblysscrapbox&refid=store WhansaMi whans...@aol.com wrote in message news:9yPCe.4060k_.2306@trnddc07... I have the best luck with the banquet table on some bed risers or pvc pipes. My table is the 1 wide board kind as opposed to the fatter plastic ones. I got some clips that used to be sold at quilt shops but I think they come down to being picnic tablecloth clips out of pvc. Harriet HArgraves book is really helpful in describing this technique. It is easy on your back and you just don't get wrinkles. Kitties love to romp around under while I work : ) You can do it with a smaller table (Ragmop suggest even a tv tray) but the large ones are worth having if you quilt a lot. Put a nice tablecloth on them and they are great for parties and big family dinners. HTH, Taria WhansaMi wrote: I've always struggled with how best to baste my quilts.
