    Dear Bob Owen,

On May 2, the U.S. Senate will vote on S. 22, The Medical Care Access Protection Act of 2006, a comprehensive bill to stop the medical liability crisis in our nation. America’s patients can make the difference in its passage!

For too long America’s unfair medical liability system has had an impact on our nation's economy and America's health care system. Frivolous lawsuits and skyrocketing insurance premiums are forcing physicians to limit services, retire early or move to a state with reforms where premiums are more stable. And America’s patients are paying the price!

    S. 22 is based on a successful law in Texas that has reduced medical liability premiums by 22 percent and has allowed doctors to provide quality medical care. The legislation also provides for reasonable limits on non-economic damages and ensures that patients, not personal injury lawyers, are compensated for their injuries.

On May 2, the U.S. Senate will vote on this crucial legislation, but it won’t pass without your help! Call or e-mail your senators and urge them to pass S. 22, The Medical Care Access Protection Act of 2006. Tell them to keep their promise to America’s patients!

Together we are stronger. Thank you for joining this important effort to preserve patients’ access to care!
