What are you folks listening to? Mystic- Downpilot "Leaving Not Arriving" Wonderful melodic and intricate 2nd recording from this great Portland group led by Paul Hiraga. Produced by the remarkable Tucker Martine. One not to miss in 2004........... http://transumpt.info/ Mount Analog "New Skin" Amazing sound structures constructed from the mind of Tucker Martine. If you enjoy music that still leaves you in wonderment and evokes moments of magic and your looking for something out of the ordinary then Tucker's Mount Analog project shoud be your next stop. http://transumpt.info/ Lanterna "Highways" A solo, mostly instrumental project put together by M7x guitarist Henry Frayne, with wide panoramic musical structures that tends to leave one breathless. http://transumpt.info/ Tortise "It's All Around You" Another instrumental instalment from wondermind John McEntire and company from Chicago. Beautiful, poignant and well written. Some folks from the Tortise camp are giving it 31/2* but I think more in the 41/2 range with a beautiful cover to accompany the enclosed goods. Be sure to check it out on their web page: http://transumpt.info/ Blonde Redhead "Misry is a Butterfly" More from the Cocteau Twins/Bijork side of the musical spectrum, but insightful with great compostions and writing. American/Japan chauntse Kazu Makino vocals take a few moments to sink in but pays off in the long haul. http://transumpt.info/ Sufjan Stevens "Seven Swans" A magical mystery tour as Sufjan and his compostions lead you through pastures of purity and great songwritting. Perhaps one of the leading indie segments new musical guru. Intricate and intimate, enjoy! http://transumpt.info/ Okkervil River "Down the River of Golden Dreams" Great performances and brilliant songs in the vein of Wilco/Tweety and company. Especially noted are "The War Criminal Rises and Speaks" a brutally honest look back into the cultural 60/70's and "It Ends with a Fall". Great Great stuff.... http://transumpt.info/okkervil/main.html Dios "Dios" Combine elements of the Band, Beachboys and put the members in hawthrone Ca and you've got a basic idea of Dios. This one is really growing on me......Catch their performance on KCRW's mornings become eclectic....... http://transumpt.info/ Todd Rundgren "Liars" Yes indeed Todd is back in form with his latest offerings with moments that recall pieces of "Hermit of Mink Hollow" and "Something/Anything?" Contemporary mayhem from a wizard and true star! http://transumpt.info/home/section=liars Sigmatropic "Sixteen Haiku & Other Stories" Compilation disc of poetry by George Sefens with appearences by Robert Wyatt, Alejandro Escovedo, Mark Eitzel, Cat Power, Simon Joyner, Lee Ranaldo and Edith Frost. Interesting musical snips of poetic images set to music...... http://transumpt.info/ Abra Moore "Everything Changed" Abra puts all of her cards on the table and comes up aces with an album that is as pinacle in her canon as Joni Mitchell's "Hejra" album. A great piece of work from a major talent. http://transumpt.info/AbraMooreHome.htm These are just in and I've not taken the dive as of yet: Of Montreal "Satanic Panic in the Attack" David Byrne "Grown Backwards" Marillion "Marbles" (2CD) Cocorosie "La Maison De Mon Reve" Destroyer "Your Blues" Iron and Wine "Our Endless Numbered Days" Lambchop "Aw Comon'" No You Comon" Mystic->
